What is it?

Google Lighthouse is a completely free tool focused on website performance. It is a software that anyone can use to audit your websites accessibility and SEO score for your webpage’s core web vitals.

Core Web Vitals Are…

Core Web Vitals are a set of metric Google uses to measure a websites speed and overall experience. The following metrics have become increasingly important for a website to provide a better user experience and rank higher with Google. 

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) - How long your website takes to load the largest content above the fold. The measurement involves the time it takes for the main content to appear on your website. Google recommends under 2.5 seconds.

  • First Input Delay (FID) - The time it takes for a webpage to respond after the user interacts with the page for the first time. This includes link clips, button taps and custom JavaScript actions. Google recommends an FID of under 100 milliseconds.

  • Cumulative Layout Shifts (CLS) - Total amount of content the moves as the page loads. This measures the number of layout shifts effective user’s ability to read content and interact with the page. Google recommends a CLS core of 0.1 or less.
